At Cannon Kirk, we know that a well-designed home is about more than just layout – it’s about how a space feels and functions in everyday life. That’s why we partnered with interior designer Karen Kerridge of K3 Interior Design to create our stunning Cedar show home at Highfields Green.
Karen’s vision brings together natural elements, inviting textures, and a modern yet timeless design that perfectly complements the home’s layout. Here, she shares the inspiration and design choices that make the Cedar Show Home a must-visit.
What inspired the earthy colour palette, and how does it enhance the space?
The colour scheme was inspired by the natural surroundings of Highfields Green. Our goal was to bring the outdoors inside, creating a seamless connection between the home and its green landscape. Since we were able to have input on key finishes like tiles and kitchen cabinetry, we selected deep green kitchen cupboards that became a focal point, tying in beautifully with the furnishings. The launch timing in spring also played a role; we wanted the interiors to feel fresh, light, and full of natural elements like flowers and plants.
The show home interior appears both on-trend and timeless. How did you create that balance?
We achieved this by mixing bold statement patterns with calmer, more neutral spaces. Layered textures create visual continuity throughout, making the home feel cohesive. We don’t follow fleeting trends like Pantone’s Colour of the Year; each show home is unique, with its design driven by a carefully curated colour palette, fabrics, and patterns that create a lasting impact.
Were there any specific lifestyle considerations that influenced your choices?
The Cedar is a four-bedroom home, making it ideal for families. We designed the interiors to reflect modern family life:
The Cedar’s layout is designed for modern living. How did you enhance that through interior design?
By combining functional yet homely touches, we created different zones for different occasions. Every space has a purpose, from social gatherings to quiet moments of relaxation.
How did you combine comfort with style in the design?
We layered textures, patterns, and materials, using throws, rugs, and cushions to add warmth and character. Thoughtful final touches, like curated accessories, make the space feel lived-in while maintaining a stylish, cohesive look.
What advice would you give homeowners looking to recreate this look in their own Cannon Kirk home?
Start with Cannon Kirk’s range of optional extras to personalise your home’s base finishes. Then, introduce your own personality through textures, fabrics, and accessories. The key is to link elements together so everything feels harmonious.
How do you use textures and materials to create warmth and character?
Lighting: Different levels of lighting create distinct moods. Large bedside lamps and textured lamp shades soften the space, while brighter lights bring energy to social areas.
Natural wood finishes: A variety of wood textures add warmth and depth, creating a more organic, inviting feel.
If you had to describe the Cedar Show Home’s interior in three words, what would they be?
Relaxing, homely, and airy.
